Brazoria-Galveston County Farm Bureau believes that every child should know where their food comes from—and how important agriculture is to their everyday life. That’s why we offer Ag in the Classroom, a free program that brings fun, hands-on agriculture lessons directly to local schools.

From Classroom to Community: Ag Literacy in Action

Bringing Agriculture to Classrooms:
Our Ag Programs Coordinator visits area elementary schools throughout the year to teach students about farming, ranching, soil, water, food production, and more. These age-appropriate presentations are interactive and engaging, designed to help students connect with agriculture in meaningful ways. We also partner with FFA students and community volunteers to expand our reach and impact even more classrooms.

These presentations are offered at no cost to teachers or schools within Brazoria and Galveston Counties. Each visit includes age-appropriate activities that connect agriculture to core subjects like science, math, and social studies.

To schedule a classroom visit or learn more about available lessons, contact our County Ag Programs Coordinator by email or call 979-248-9030.

Supporting Teachers with Free Resources:
In addition to in-school visits, we provide free resources for teachers who want to bring agriculture into their own lessons. From curriculum ideas to printable materials, we help educators build strong, science- and community-based learning experiences.

Each lesson is aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and designed to fit easily into your existing curriculum. Teachers can explore topics like plant science, soil health, food systems, livestock, and sustainability—all created to make agriculture fun and relevant for students of every grade level.

These lessons bring agriculture to life in your classroom and help students understand how farmers and ranchers play a vital role in our everyday lives.

Promoting Ag Literacy Beyond the Classroom:
We proudly partner with local 4-H and FFA clubs and take part in community events like fairs and field days to promote ag literacy across the community. Each August, we also celebrate educators with teacher appreciation activities and special school visits.
